Mission
¡Hola! I am Laura Martínez, a certified Spanish teacher from Spain. With Spaans Leren met Laura I teach Spanish taking into account the Dutch language and culture. But that does not mean that I cannot teach Spanish to any other language or culture! As a result, I have created Your Spanish Experience, so that students from other language backgrounds can find me.

Vision
With a decade of experience teaching Spanish in the vibrant cultural landscape of The Netherlands, I've had the privilege of shaping minds in various schools and institutions, but also through my own company. In February 2024, I moved back to my home country, Spain, so now I bring the essence of Spain straight to your screens, offering top-notch online lessons that transcend physical boundaries.
My approach is rooted in a commitment to delivering well-structured sessions tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Learning a language isn’t just learning grammar or a list of words or structures. That helps, but it comes with its limitations. In other words: learning a language is not just about conjugating verbs; it's about understanding the cultural nuances and emotional connections that make communication truly meaningful.
Learning a new language is a holistic experience. Therefore, I'm here to provide you with invaluable insights and guidance. There is not just one experience, like “THE Spanish experience”. The “experience” is what you make of it, the way you live the Spanish language and culture(s), that is, how you implement those in your day-to-day life.
From here, I would love to encourage you to immerse yourself in the experience of learning a language through different activities that are meaningful to you in the world of your first language. For instance: do you like to cook? Why not look at Spanish cooking videos? Do you like to do yoga? What about following yoga lessons in Spanish? Is this not possible in your country? That's fine, there are plenty of videos on the internet. What about switching your meditation app to Spanish? Similarly, with things such as make-up tutorials, podcasts, music playlists... To name a few.
Furthermore, my lessons are infused with empathy and understanding, acknowledging the challenges and triumphs that come with mastering a new language. There is no learning without mistakes! Accept that they will be a necessary part of your learning process. Together, we'll navigate this journey with patience and perseverance.
And rest assured, you're in capable hands. I am not only passionate about what I do: I also hold a bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Murcia, along with two master's degrees from the University of Utrecht. One of these master's is in world literature, publication and Spanish literature; and the second master's degree is in bilingual and international education with a specialisation in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
I believe my diplomas, experience and passion for what I do equip me with the knowledge and expertise to empower you on your language-learning quest. Now, may I have the honour to be your guide? :)
